You can have the faster internet at home with these simple tricks, like moving lamps away from the router

Getting a fast internet connection is the modern world’s Holy Grail: we believe it is out there, somewhere, but somehow the struggle continues.
However, the quest might actually be a lot easier than you think. There are a few simple things which could be stopping you accessing a buffer-free wonderland and some are quite surprising.

For example, electric lamps, cordless phones and electric lamps give off their own wireless signals, and can therefore interfere with your router and drag things down to a snail pace.

National watchdog Ofcom has advised people to keep their wireless routers as far as they can away from electrical appliances like these and see if their websites immediately start to load more quickly. They said interference is one of the most common causes of slow speeds.
What could be getting in the way?

All kinds of things, unfortunately.

Scout around for halogen lamps, stereo or computer speakers, fairy lights, TVs and AC power cords which have all been known to affect routers according to Ofcom.

They also advise keeping your router on a table or shelf rather than on the floor and keeping it switched on.

Also, it’s best to plug your router directly into the mains rather than a telephone connection.

This never needs to be you again:
